Document Summary

Possibilities: behavioral cross cuing: non-neural interhemispheric communicating ; analogous to how conjoined twins may operate. Damage mirror neurons and see if they cant communicate anymore: other senses, auditory- melody heard cant always be identified in the other side, tactile- object (apple) can be identified by right hand when exclusively held by left hand. Not always: posterior: vision and auditiory; anterior: attention and cognitive information. Neural correlates of consc (ncc) fmri: very powerful magnet for imaging (cog research uses this to see where the blood rushes to) 1 to 3 mm spatial res, but bad temporal resolution (3 to 6 seconds: eeg: bad spatial res, good temporal, tms: creates virtual lesions, ncc-- does not try to tackle the hard problems, like qualia. No one knows what theyre looking for, but they hope to gain philosophical insight through the research. Must be cautious about causality/ correlation: either nerual event caused the consc experience, neural event was caused.
