Behavioral approaches: aversive conditioning, try to get you into something that"ll get you away from the substance (e. g. exercise, church) Personality disorders: histrionic personality disorder, borderline personality disorder, long term set of behaviors, dramatic mood shifts that are triggered (jen has no manic episodes =/= bipolar, diathesis stress model, genetic-environmental vulnerabilities, stressors interact with vulnerabilities. Jen"s stressors include no direct parental affection (had nanny), long distance relationship with boyfriend, etc.
