Covert attention- visual field location where on is paying attention is different form where on is looking. Overt attention- visual field location where one is paying attention. Reflexive- attention is drawn to a salient stimulus; involuntary- the red star in a picture of the beach. Voluntary- attention is voluntarily moved search for waldo; selective attention) Early selection- select relevant stimuli during sensory processing prior to a full analysis of all stimuli. Late selection- select relevant stimuli only after a full analysis of all stimuli has been completed. Color changing card trick- didn"t notice the change in color. Early selection is possible- two video- you would not have missed the changes. Sensory register- brief, highly detailed representation of incoming sensory info. Long-term- depends on the integrity of the shorter term.
