Wanted to identify children who needed remedial education. Created intelligence test measuring mental age : a 7 yr old child that performed like a typical 10 yr old would have a mental age of 10. Compiled a series of very diff tests, some verbal and some performance-based. Subtests summed together to produce a total score. Kalikak study: traced what happened to 2 lines of descendants of a revolutionary war soldier. Book: hereditary genius: an inquiry into its laws and consequences. Evidence: people famous for intellectual achievements often had famous relatives. Conclusion: similarity is due to biologically inherited intelligence. Basis of intelligence: neural acuity (sensory quickness) Modified binet-simon test, creating the stanford-binet intelligence quotient test. (mental age / chronological age) x 100.
