Pragmatics how language is used in context. Phonemes - smallest letters that can be altered to change meaning of a word. Each morpheme consists of one or more phonemes. Ex: kisses (2 morphemes and 4 phonemes) Morphemes - smallest meaningful combination of sounds in a language. Smallest units that have meaning, including suffixes and prefixes.
