Greek mythology about sexual desires: 2 people are halves and they must find each other. Islam: ways sexuality is seen varies from country to country. Ellis (1859: women and men are both sexual creatures, sexual deviations from norms are harmless. Hirshfeld: founded first sex research and survey. Array of sexual scenes and behaviors on tv and media rising: from 23% to 35% in 2005. Only 2% of that showed safe sex practices. Media has 3 types of influences: cultivation. People begin to think that what they see on television really represents what happens in our culture: agenda setting. News reporters select what to ignore and what to emphasize: social learning.
