Mild cognitive impairment (mci): form of neurocognitive disorder that signifies that the individual may be at risk for dementia. Noticeable declines, but not severe enough to affect daily life. Describes a group of symptoms associated with cognitive declines. Severe enough to affect a person"s daily life. Alzheimer"s disease is most common type of dementia. Impairments in two areas: memory, language, executive functions (attention, reasoning, & judgment),visual-spatial abilities. These are not the same as normal age-related changes in cognition. Alzheimer"s disease: a form of neurocognitive disorder in which the individual suffers progressive and irreversible neuronal death. Changes in brain loss of cognitive abilities. The normal adult forgets, remembers that she forgot, and later may remember what she forgot.
