Equitable relationships are the happiest and most stable. People really like relationships better when they are for the most part equal. Dovte little time or energy to the relationship. Devote lots of time and energy to the relationships. Inequity is more important to the person who is under-benefited. Some relationships are governed by equity concerns exchange. New relationships follow more of an exchange relationship because you haven"t developed a solid relationship yet. People keep track of what they contribute and want an equal return from partner. Other relationships governed by mutual responsiveness to each others needs communal relationships. If you find that you are in a relationship and your partner seems inclined to break it off, try to end it mutually. Your experience will be less traumatic because you share a bit of control over the process of breaking up (even if you don"t want it to happen) Control is important for a feeling of well-being.
