Notes: work and retirement around the world, study: 21,000 people age 40-79 in 21 countries examined patterns of work and retirement. On average, 33% of ppl in their sixities and 11% in their seventies were still in some kind of paid employment. 19% of those in their seventies in the us were still working. A substantial percentage of individuals expect to continue working as long as possible before retiring. Japanese retirees missed work slightly more than they epected and the money considerably less than they expected. Us retirees missed botht he work ad the money slightly less than they expected. German retirees were the least likely to miss the work, turkish and chinese retirees the most likely to miss it. Regarding the money, japanese and chinese retirees were the least likely to mis sit: early retriment policies intended to make room for younger workers.
