Consider helping behavior: males are more likely ot help in contexts in which a perceived danger is present and they feel competent to help. Ex: males are more likely than females to help a person stranded bythe road with flat tire. In contrast, helping like volunteering time is more likely to be done by a female, because little danger is present and females feel more competent and nurturing. Consider anger: males are more likely to show anger towards strangers, especially other males, when they think they have been challenged. Males are also more likely to turn their anger into aggressive action, especially when culture endorses such action. (1) gender development through the lifespan. However, fathers and peers usually want boys to be independent and to engage in rough-and-tumble play. Adopting a strong masculine role in adolescence is increasingly being found to be associated with problem behaviors.
