Document Summary
In 1990, idea was amended in 97 and reauthorized in 2004 and renamed the individuals with disabilities education improvement act. Idea spells out broad mandates for services to children with all kinds of disabilities. Education in the least restrictive environment (lre): a setting that is as similar as possible to the one in which children who do not have a disability are educated. Inclusion: educating a child with special educational needs full-time in the regular classroom. Far more children with disabilities are receiving competent, Socioeconomic status and ethnicity in schools specialized services. Children in low-income, ethnic minority backgrounds have more difficulties in school than do their middle-socioeconomic-status, non-latino white counterparts. Critics argue schools have not done a good job of eductating these students. The education of students from low-income backgrounds: Parents who are incapable of reading to them. Parents who don"t set high educational standards for them.
