Intimacy: feeling of warmth and closeness (emotional: compassion: physical arousal and desire (motivational, commitment : decision to stay in relationship and work to maintain (cognitive) There are many different combinations of love: romantic love: passion + intimacy. Fantasy, novelty, and arousal decline: liking: intimacy, fatuous love: passion + commitment. Infatuation: passion: companionate love: commitment + intimacy. Strong and steady in first two years of marriage less likely to divorce: empty love: commitment, consumate love: passion + commitment + intimacy rare. Study: meta-analysis: global, personal and friendship networks increases in adolescence and young adult, network size reach plateau at mid-20s/early 30s; shrinks after. Decrease in network sizes after non-normative events. Death of relative: global decrease, close personal increase.
