Naionalism is a product of industrial society: recap. Does therefore, the passing of industrial society into post-industrial society mean that we are moving to a post-naional era: obtaining a new ciizenship has ceased to become something like a religious conversion. What would that mean: if you are part of muliple naion states, where does your allegiance go to then, primary allegiances shit from naion-state to something above that. It originates from the determinaion never to have the forces that caused wwii in. There were always ideas of the uniicaion of europe; even during the nazis. However it was only ater wwii that people started to get serious about this. 1951 european coal and steel community: france, germany, italy belgium, State interests: the french wanted germany economic power to re-build the coninent. Germany wanted french poliics (diplomacy) to help them re-introduce themselves ater trying to destroy the world twice. Idea: unite economies, and then you unite interests within europe.
