Can you tell what goes in irst: in the experiment dr. bristol ideniied all 8 cups correctly. How could we know: the probability that she could get all the cups correct, by chance, is 1 in 70. What important about experiments: we learn from them, we can test people"s claims we can test whether or no people are telling what they think it"s the truth. Characterisics of an experiment: treatment and control, randomizaion, measurement. What is a causal efect: diference in outcomes between two states of the world, treated versus untreated. We cannot observe any given subject in both its treated and untreated state. Random assignment enables us to create two groups whose treated and untreated states are the same in expectaion: example causal efect: exam results (ie) exam results (without a ie) People do not know they are conducing an experiment. Oten diferent wordings of a quesion, or exposure to a picture, or video content.
