Ignited by short term political spark francisco madero (elite family runs for president) Emiliano zapata goes in revolt against madero because he wasn"t giving back land. Madero was killed, and now mexico was ruled by general huerta (henry lane wilson helped get rid of madero. New incoming president woodrow wilson would not recognize huerta administration. Wilson believed that huerta came to power unconstitutionally. Wilson wanted to restore constitutional legality by removing huerta from power. He believed that all mexicans would rally behind us interference in mexican affairs. In 1914 woodrow wilson landed marines in veracruz most mexicans denounced the attempted overthrow. July 1914 huerta forced out of power (done by venustiano carranza in alliance with alvaro obregon, and pancho villa. However they failed to come together (by end of 1914 mexico is in a civil war)
