Incremental decisions all across criminal justice system work to their disadvantage; but no obvious racism: racist society, criminal justice system is simply a reflection of racism in american society. Incarceration rates for african americans is at least twice as high than for whites. Question: how would you go about effecting change. Evidence of broader racism: crack cocaine (used in greater proportion by inner-city people of color) was punished. In 1965, it was about 50/50: now, a majority are in favor. Increase greatly: defe(cid:374)da(cid:374)t"s (cid:373)oti(cid:448)e (cid:449)as to (cid:272)olle(cid:272)t i(cid:374)su(cid:396)a(cid:374)(cid:272)e, physical torture was involved. People executed in the us: the rate has been bumping around a lot. Public opinion: death penalty: nearly americans support death penalty, majority have supported it since the gallup survey first asked about it in 1936, the only exception is during the 1960/70s. 19 states have repealed the death penalty: california still has the death penalty, voting to keep it both times in 2012 and 2016.
