Creation-part 2:hesiod"s theogony=the earliest systematic literary account of the birth of the universe. Composition of the poem: hymns=praise poems to gods; to the uses, to the goddess hecate, muses telling the coming of the universe. In odyssey, the muse asks for divine inspiration to tell the story: catalogues=lists of places or events. E. g. various entities giving birth, places in the universe, zeus"s marriages, unions of goddesses with mortal men: dramatic tales=stories with divine protagonists who take action. Uranus, cronus, zeus (who defeats cronus, prometheus, and typhoeus/typhon: drama comes from the greek word (drau?) which means to act, how are these characters related, father and son: leads to killing, murder. It"s a (cid:272)o(cid:374)(cid:272)ept: uranus=mountains, gea=anything on earth, begin the world with incest, 12 titans=children of gea and uranus, 6 males; 6 females, but why 6-6, because they need to have sex with each other.
