WLD 057 Lecture 5: workshop Essay 2: paragraphs
Document Summary
Jason daley, a science journalist, discusses that many of the population"s reactions were more based off their emotional perspective and not rational thinking. He gives many examples and explains the choices the population made that was due to fear, not logic. Daley makes a valid point by showing there are many situations where one establishes their actions on their emotional state, unlike logically analyzing the situation. For example, daley mentions how many chose to avoid air travel after the september 1, 2001 tragedy. Though the purpose was to avoid harm, in contrast, there were increased traffic fatalities by nearly 1,600. Airlines, on the other hand, recorded no fatalities (daley). In agreement with daley, i believe that the impulsive choices many make, due to their instinct, are unfortunate. Nevertheless, there is still opportunity in the future to improve. Words have power and meaning, and they can go a long way.
