Ex: may emphasize positive aspects to get custody of their kid. Ex: may emphasize negative aspects to get benefits. No one has perfect insight about themselves. Ask someone else who knows the individual. Can give same test to informant as individual. Downside - informant may have overly positive/negative report. Usually get more info that"s more reliable from self - report. Similar to interview, but you aren"t asking about them. Put them in standardized task and make them do something. See how people convey info about themselves. Show people pictures & ask them what they think is going on in pic.
