Debates in the 1980 presidential election (carter vs reagan) and the 1984 presidential election (reagan vs mondale) were marked by reagan"s talent with memorable one-liners. 1988 presidential election (bush vs dukakis) - saw the role of emotional responses or lack thereof in debates. 1992 presidential election (bush vs clinton vs perot) - the role of connecting with your audience. The first and so far only three person debate in the history of presidential elections. Not often the major players in presidential elections, but memorable moments do happen. Commission on presidential debates are in charge of debate format details, and consultation with the parties involved.
