Industrial Revolution
• By 1850, Britain had gone from being small peripheral country to major world power

• This Industry was the most important one during the Industrial Revolution
o Flying Shuttle was a huge development
o Spinning Jenny
▪ Developed by Hargreaves in 1769
▪ This replicated hand-spinning
▪ Took extremely long to spin a thread before this invention
▪ This invention spun 16 threads at the same time of spinning 1
o Water Frame
▪ Developed by Arkwright in 1769
▪ Another way of spinning cotton thread
▪ Used in factories and was initially powered by thread
▪ Uses rollers for spiig so it’s ery different from spinning jenny
▪ This makes strong yarn
