CMN 3 Lecture 8: Lectuer 8: Leadership & Desicion Making in Groups
Document Summary
We can"t really agree on what it is exactly. What we do agree on is that leadership: incorporates the ability to direct or influence others behaviors and thoughts towards a productive end. Productive end: does not necessarily have to be a positive positive end or even a moral productive end. There have been plenty of leaders that have lead productivity to a immoral end. Ability to picture a new reality for the organization. Change and growth in order for a group to survive. Persuasive to sway those to work towards an end. Make the audience feel they are the most important person in the room, while active listening, and effectively reading and exhibiting appropriate verbal and nonverbal behavior. Use bullying or harsh criticism, name-calling, gossip, etc. Can also use positive tactics to manipulate people for their evil purposes. Very little evidence to support the idea that men and women lead any differently than each other.
