Hearing: is a biological activity that involves the reception of a message through sensory channels. Listening: the process of receiving, constructing meaning from, and responding to spoken and/or nonverbal messages; to hear something with thoughtful attention. Listening is a high energy process that requires effort and skills. Tuning out dull/irrelevant topics (ie: yugioh/stuff that doesn"t interest you, but you have to try to stay connected to the conversation because it means something to them. Criticizing delivery or physical appearance (when a coworker has a bad habit, Right? focus on what is being said not how it is being said) Dialogic listening: incorporates active listening skills and looks at how people can collaborate on the listening process. Ethnocentric point of view: thinking that your point of view is the preferred view and the right one.
