Resources increase at a linear rate, but human populations increase at an exponential growth. Principles of populations basically states that: there will be a time where the resources will no longer be sufficient for the populations, he concluded that diseases and insufficient resources will keep populations in check. Sir charles lyell (1797-1875: he was a scottish lawyer trained at oxford, he became the leading geologist of his day and wrote the principles of geology . The same natural processes acting on the earth today are the same as in the past.
