At non-cog: non-cognitivism misunderstands the way that language works. Whenever we give a statement in a factual claim there is the implicit assumption that said sentence contains a truth property. This renders non-cognitivism paradoxical: logical syllogisms regarding ethical principles prove that ethical statements can be true. Holocaust was wrong we are already engaging in a moral epistemology dependent upon the truth functionality of our claims: it would be impossible to have moral disagreement if moral statements didn"t have truth value. You could say harming animals is bad and i could say it is permissible, but we can only have this discussion in the context of truth functional claims.
