As a result, the cost of health care in the united states has skyrocketed. Health care costs have grown on average 2. 5 percentage points faster than u. s. gross domestic product since 1970. The amount of people uninsured in the status quo is. It is projected that under existing policies, the number of uninsured citizens nationwide will continue to grow and could top 54 million by 2019. Unless there are changes to healthcare policy, the number of people who are uninsured will not decline. Rather than improving the product or improving the delivery system, the free market enterprise of health care has translated into a decline in health care conditions and an increase in cost.
