Being and time begs to question the nature of being and how it is that a person accesses their understanding of being within an ontological spectrum. Heidegger does this phenomenologically by establishing what it means to be and allows the reader the opportunity to take being" and apply it to their understanding of the world around them. This applies phenomenological approaches, because it begs the question as to why someone is and how they can begin their understanding of being: by first assessing the mechanics one utilizes to operate within existence. This question triggers the epistemic spiral that precipitates a metanalysis of one"s ontological perceptions of reality, and thus of being. Without the question of why one is, one cannot begin to question why people are the way they are and communicate the way that they do. Heidegger asserts that the only way one can access the nature of being is to understand why persons perceive them from different perspectives.
