Menorrhagia: excessive bleeding: may be in days or the amount of blood. Cyst: (semi) fluid filled sac or vesicle. Fibroids: myomas: form in the muscle wall of the uterus. Treated with: estrogen cream, exercises, pessary, surgery. Jello: full-liquid diet, can be poured at room temp, not see through, ex. high protein shake, sodium-restricted diet, high blood pressure, kidney disease, heart failure, low cholesterol, nutritional supplements, thickened liquids, nectar thick, honey thick, pudding thick. Preparing patients for meals: plops rather than pours, assist to toileting, basic hygiene, wash hands, both patients and you, position in high fowlers, remain in that position for 30 mins after eating, ensure pleasant environment, reduce distractions. Fluids and hydration: monitoring input and output. Including foods that are liquids at room temperature: all iv fluids and tpn feeding, 1500-3000ml per day recommended, output, urine, blood, vomit, wound drainage, diarrhea, edema, fluid retention.
