Document Summary

It is a meta-writing on the means and outcome of an existing writing. "the elements of the rhetorical situation - writer, audience message, context - are best viewed as dynamic and interdependent. : rhetorical scholar jenny edbauer prefers the metaphor "rhetorical ecology. " Identified by aristotle in the rhetoric (350 bce) as the three persuasive proofs. "imagine there"s no heaven, it"s easy if you try," (john lennon, imagine). The first line of one of the most thought provoking and emotion-filled songs causes the listener to think: the amazing part of the song is how lennon establishes his credibility, or ethos, within his world- wide audience. Through the 1960s and 1970s and up until his death in 1980, lennon was a peace activist and made his point clear: he establishes his pathos with the music that goes along with it. Lennon"s melodic piano and light use of other instruments makes the song feel very personal as if he is speaking only to you.
