Attributions: the explanations you offer for behaviour, either about the situation or about them, fundamental attribution error. Source of own behavior is external: couples. Happy maximizes positive and minimizes negative events. Unhappy minimizes positive and maximizes negative events. Investment model: allows us to predict how long relationships will last. Rewards any positive thing you like about your partner: comparison level how we think we deserve to be treated. How much satisfaction depends on how much outcomes exceed cl. Someone treats you badly, decreases cl: outcomes = rewards cost. Can be +ve or ve: we weigh negative information more than positive. 5 positives need to cancel 1 negative: clalt. Getting the best bang for your buck . Dependent on prior experience, culture, context & self-esteem. Outcomes obtained by dating another partner in the environment.
