Ought to be more to our feelings and emotional expression than mere physiological arousal and behavioral expression. All emotions involve generalized physiological arousal and cognitive label. Racing heart, sweaty palms, tightening of the stomach and rapid breath. We then look around in the environment and try to find the cause. Men would be injected with vitamin supplement. 2/3 were injected with epinephrine (hormone that causes physiological arousal) and the other 1/3 was injected with placebo. Drug- informed group: warned with physiological effects of drug. Placebo control group: injected with harmless substance. Then participants met with confederate (works with experimenter but not obvious to participants), and he acted with anger or very happy. Placebo control group felt the same way regardless of how the confederate behaved. Drug informed group felt the same way regardless, felt the arousal but attributed it to the drug.
