Lab this week: meet at pedestrian bridge to autzen stadium. Mostly oceans and coastal processes (80% since last midterm) Center around recommendation (not just background material); do not bury the recommendation. Recommendation to fix, 1 page memo (print) Connect environmental geology to a societal problem of your choice. Elevator pitch -- 3/13-16 in lab -- 1 minute speech (same topic) One powerpoint slide is optional-- send to your ta before the lab (details to come) You will be cut off shortly after 1 minuteso practice! Discharge = width x depth x velocity. If discharge increases but width and depth stays the same, velocity will increase. Precipitation-- where does that water go-- into the ground = infiltration, then makes way into the rivers. Water has to go downhill to find way to river, river fills up, flooding -- increased river discharge. A-- flooding is more severe by increasing river discharges soon after a rainstorm. Permeability (ability for water to flow, interconnectedness)
