An individual with a less developed self may rely heavily upon the acceptance and approval of others. To the point that they are willing to adjust what they think, do, and say in order to conform. A individual with a more developed self, or better differentiated recognizes the impact of others. Is more able to be confident in their thinking and actions. It is a spectrum from undifferentiated to well differentiated. It is thought that less differentiated families may have more chronic anxiety within them. As individuals launch from their family of origin they may negotiate how they want their differentiation to look. Refers to an enduring pattern of romantic or sexual attraction (or a combination of these two) to monogamy (marriage, partnership, serial monogamy), Or non-monogamy (polygyny, plural, polygamy, polyamory, polyandry)
