Document Summary

Electricity: the ow of electrons through a conductor. Dc = direct current: electricity is always owing in the same direction, ex: batteries. Ac = alternating current: electricity ows backwards and forwards, ex: lights in a room, light is ickering so fast that we can"t perceive it. Frequency: hertz = cycles per second. Parts of a circuit: power source. Battery, wall outlet, generator, etc: conductive path. Wires running from power source to load and from load back to power source: load. Converts electrical energy into heat, light, tv image, whatever is consuming electricity, etc. How we turn the thing on or o . Place where the circuit can be made open or closed. In theatre we refer to this as a dimmer. How much energy is stored ready to be pulled at any point. Sort of like electrical pressure built up. Standardized by country/continent: us = 120v. Constant supply from power company: amperes.
