For one to write about a place, the number one thing to think about is details. Details require you to spend a lot of time with your environment and to understand its core of living. Carson and other great environmental writers, they have spent numerous hours observing and learning about their surroundings. Building upon those details is the next step. Complexity is also another important aspect of creating a place. Ecosystems have intertwining connections with its environment, where everything relies on one another. Complexity depends on the ability to make those intertwining connections and make sense of why the environment is the way it is. A basic knowledge of your place will help you create a successful sense of complexity.

Even though they have been doing it all their lives, people need to study communication simply because it is so complex. As stated in chapter 3 of the book, we all perceive things differently and "perception and communication influence each other, perception shapes our understanding of others' communication and the choices we make in our own communication" (pg. 41). For the reason that the choices we make and the ways that we view things/situations are changing everyday, communication between two individuals also changes and becomes more complex. Though we can communicate in general, how we communicate and what we communicate depends on how we perceive the world around us, making communication not as simple as it seems. As humans, we create broad categories of things (prototypes) and place people into them (Wood pg. 43). We then go on to create a more detailed assessment (a personal construct) where we measure a person or situation with a certain dimension of judgment (Wood pg. 43). We also place people and situations into stereotypes by making predictive generalizations or simply predicting what the personal/situation will be like or what will happen (Wood pg. 43). With all of these components to a basic path of communicating with others, it's hard to not see why we would study our complex underlying system of human communication. Not only do we make assumptions, but we base our thoughts/actions off of those assumptions which can then all be interpreted differently among various individuals. We study communication to try and dissect all of these interpretations and perceptions of others "to make sense of experience and to predict how we and others will act" (Wood pg. 45). Sometimes we follow a script or just simply act a specific way in a specific situation (like greeting someone and telling them your name) (Wood pg. 45). However, not everyone follows these scripts which just adds to the complexity of communication between us all.

This is Answer-After learning about the classical economic viewpoint and the criticisms of government from it, I don't think there is one single approach that makes the most sense to me between fiscal, monetary, and supply-side policies. I think a minimal mix of the three is okay, and for each, they have their own given situations where they may work best in comparison to the others, or even work in conjunction with one another.

Increasing aggregate demand through fiscal policy may help the economy with unemployment and price levels, or it may hurt the economy instead and leave it in a worse state than it was previously found to be at. This could create artificial demand where there isn't true demand from the consumers. This could trick business and mess them up.

Controlling the supply of money through monetary policy may be helpful to the economy for taming inflation and keeping price stability. Controlling it too much could cause problems such as market unpredictability, which in turn could cause mixed results such as to scare people away or draw them into borrowing less or more money.

Increasing supply through supply-side policies may help the economy with unemployment and price levels. It could hurt people in ways such as people not receiving federal funding, or receive less of it (budget cuts in whatever that may be) due to tax cuts, exemptions, etc., from the government to businesses.

With these three perspectives in mind, I would prefer to see a more classical approach to economic situations. The perspectives of fiscal, monetary, and supply-side policy I think can each be helpful but would be best if they didn't have to be implemented in the first place. They have the potential to cause damage to the economy. After watching the classical economics video and reading the chapter, one thing that stood out to me and I think summarizes government involvement from a classical economists viewpoint is the government's role is like being the umpire in a baseball game. They should make sure everyone plays by the rules and only enters the game as a last resort. That approach makes sense to me.
