New federalism established that states could decide how they wanted to spend grants given to them by the federal govt. created new federal agencies. Environmental protection agency (epa) to combat pollution and clean up waste. Occupational safety and health administration (osha) sent inspectors to workplaces to keep accountability in the working environments. National transportation safety board (ntsb) to ensure automobile manufacturers were making cars in a safe way. Warren berger appointed to replace earl warren in 1969 chosen to lead in conservatism, although his actions surprisingly went against these ideals. Title ix of 1972 banned gender discrimination in higher education, giving women an inroad to inclusion the gay and lesbian movement expanded.
