Perspectives: essentialism: essence driving differences men and women have something biological in them (essence) to differentiate one from another, maximalists: differences are large there is a wide gap between men and women. M/w, maximalists are more likely to reflect essentialist views: minimalists: differences are small between m/w. Psychological history: wilhelm wundt: founder of psych, established 1st psych lab, 1st psych journal. Structuralism: breaking down a conscious experience and breaking down into the individual components. Introspection: self-reflection, analyzing one"s own conscious awareness . Problems which could occur: self bias, small basis for research. Deconstruction of consciousness generalized adult mind - all researchers were men and only used introspection.
