How power is managed must be legit or there will be violence: the human history of warfare attests to he fragility of political life. Government: a system or organization for exercising authority over a body or people. Authority: power that people recognize as legitimate. Rules: laws on must obey: how people get what they want, institutions: organizations in which government power is exercised. Used to civilly settle political struggles and imbalances.
