KIN 232 Lecture Notes - Lecture 1: Euphonium, Ophicleide
Document Summary
The instrument he used to play was the tuba. The brass instrument that is known for its deep sound is used to play quick solos and can also play sustained melodies during performances has captivated my interest the most. The tuba was invented by wilhelm friedrich wieprecht and johann gottfried moritz on september 12, 1835. The tuba was used to replace the ophicleide, an instrument that resembles a keyed bugle of the renaissance age. There are different types of tubas, some to name a few are the the sub contrabass tuba and the higher pitched tuba. One of the most notable tubas is the euphonium. The euphonium is the tuba that my father played in high school. The most interesting part of this instrument is that it only has 3 to 4 valves and can produce sounds as low as bottom d. also, the tuba can be from 9 to 18 feet in height.
