Africans out of savage africa and bringing them into the new world where there is civilization. Europeans are saving them: profitability of slavery, in the beginning of the 18th century, return was only 8-10% profit. It is extraordinarily risky to operate a slave ship: slavery was a ubiquitous part of human society. It did not need to be explained or justified in 1700. There is no disrupting it: slavery has occurred for centuries. How do justify this yourself: slave trade needs to be imagined as a great coercive undertaking, not a bunch of free people working voluntarily to accomplish this. Only the captain and the financier are truly free.
