Former deformation evidence: structural geology the study of rock deformation, law of original horizontality tells us that sedimentary strata & lava flows were initially horizontal. Footwall block block of rock below an inclined fault. Classification of faults: faults are classified according to: dip of the fault & direction of relative movement. Graben/rift a down-dropped block, if bounded by two normal faults (i. e. , the headwall between two normal faults that is low: half-graben if subsidence occurs along a single fault.
