A story that will ultimately be told with picture. At first, there was no sound in film: because new populations in cities were often time illiterate or didn"t speak. English: this allowed everyone to be able to see the movies. Lummiere brothers pioneered the motion picture industry: projected films in a theater able to attract large audiences and make money. Thomas edison widely thought to be the pioneer of motion pictures but was. Not: he regarded motion pictures as something that would help him in the sale of the phonograph. Film = a series of frames that goes past a lamp at a continuing speed so that we see them as one moving picture. American economy was moving from agrarian to industrial which allowed motion pictures to succeed in densely populated areas. The average film today will hopefully run 120 minutes (less is more)
