Sona opportunity memory & emotions (1 credit) Must be a really significant event: natural disaster, watching a death, abuse, etc. Everyone grieves but must be recurring, impairing symptoms related to event. Any noise/smell that is related will result in a fearful response. Reaction must last at least a month. Characteristics increase likelihood: these characteristics are moderators, if event is severe and consistently violated their sense of security then it can increase likelihood. Some kids may remain inhibited over time and have stable inhibition. Going to daycare is a moderator for long-term inhibition. Kids who remain stable in their inhibition are the ones who are likely to develop anxiety. Kids who have parents that try to protect them from anxiety causing things sometimes become more anxious. O kids as early as four months of age can be tested. O kids who show irritability as an infant are likely to be shy and inhibited as a toddler and child.
