The strongest expression of innovations-education of girls. Before emancipation educational matters of girls were in the hands of parents century: there was no formal religious education for girls. In the general society girls" education starts changing in (cid:884)nd half of 18th: serious consideration of girls" education, professionalization of education. Jewish enlighteners (maskilim) were the first to consider education of girls: did not include religious education. Reformers were the first to demand religious education for girls. Traditional circles were very slow to respond. In the last quarter of 19th century orthodox could not continue neglecting religious education of girls: german sermons brought more women to the synagogue. What was missing was knowledge of hebrew and religious texts: rabbi hirsch saw the central place of women in family life. Re-consideration of women"s place improved their education (irsch"s primary school. (irsch"s son who was the director of the school demanded similar education.
