Stipulated that: the rabbi should serve as a moral example for his community (similar to christian clergy, the rabbi should deliver an edifying sermon in german at least twice a year. Later it formulated synagogues bylaws: service in synagogue resembled christian services. It signaled a transformation of the old customs. Members didn"t see in it a violation of jewish law: they wanted order and decorum. The consistory established a jewish school in kassel with a synagogue attached to it: pupils attended school also on the sabbath in order to pray there. Prayer service was shortened and was conducted in german and hebrew.
