Gelles and straus tried to identify unique characteristics which lead the couple to become a violent interaction setting. It could also contribute to more positive feelings in the relationship, leading to a violent and abusive environment. The ratio of time spent with families compared to friends is greater: intensity of involvement, privacy when we look at the modern family, it is often very private. Where privacy is high, the degree of social control will be low. Let"s say you"re getting to know someone and you are starting to like them. Your friend says hey my parents have a cabin in a secluded area, you can use it if you want to. this environment is very isolated. The trip with you and the person you"re starting to like. All of these are going through changes constantly. However, stress felt by one family member is very often transmitted to other family members.
