Arch 201 - design thinking / design methodology: originality is a term often used to describe something new or different, something that has never been done before. Architecture is more interpretive, not really possible to be original. Interpret a situation in a new way: i don"t want to be interesting [original], i want to be good! , originality is not synonymous with creativity. Architecture is more about working within a given system: tradition is a matter of a much wider signi cance. It cannot be inherited, and if you want it you must obtain it by great labour: staged photograph of frank lloyd wright . A design mindset is not problem-focused, it"s solution focused and action oriented towards creating a preferred future. Build ideas up and break them down. Design scenario: every time it rains, the city seems to ood. Iterative process: observation, documentation, analysis (of precedents) (le corbusier)
