Y-axis denotes the number (frequency) or percent (relative frequency) The shape or distribution of the data. If there"s a higher proportion around the ends, there"s a higher standard deviation. Bell curve histograms will have a lower standard deviation than uniform histograms. If there seems to be 2 distinct groups (2 peaks - bimodal), there are most likely 2 samples/populations. 25th percentile - the value with 25% of the data below that value. Median - value with half of the data smaller than it and half of the data larger than it (50th percentile) 75th percentile - the value with 75% of the data below that value. Random because we cannot predict exactly what the outcome of the experiment will be. Experiment 1: a single die is rolled and the number of spots on the top side is noted.
