East african rift: the most active rift near africa right now. There are active volcanoes near there ex: mt. A mid ocean ridge counts as a volcano. A triple junction is where the tectonic plates meet at a point. Give me a real-world example of each type of boundary: Continental rift ex: east african rift (on exam) Lava lakes help us figure out how earth looked like. Earthquakes are shallow at divergent plate boundaries since the crust is very thin. Most earthquakes occur at the transform faults when the divergent plate boundaries separate. Shallow earthquakes can occur less than 70 km deep. Convergent plate boundaries are where the plates come together. Most convergent plate boundaries include an oceanic plate/crust. Older portions of oceanic plates are returned to the mantle. Overriding plate: the plate that does not subduct at a convergent plate boundary (the one that is on top) Oceanic-continental convergence: ocean crust crashes into continental crust.
