Social construct: a social mechanism phenomenon, or category created and developed by. -- a perception of an individual, group, or idea that is constructed through culture or social practice. Masculinity: no feelings, providing/breadwinner, strength, louder, cars, bbq, Femininity: speaking softly, all feelings, skirts and dresses, pink, housewife, baking, cooking. Trans- across on the other side of through, beyond. Construction of difference as deviance or deficiency underlines the system of oppression that determine how power, privilege, wealth, and opportunity are distributed. White privilege: being privilege based on skin color. Meritocracy- based on the ideals of a hierarchy to be at the top of the merit based systems. That people work up to be at the top and some guy just born up there. Suffrage, equality, property/ownership, women working (in men roles), temperance. 2nd wave:reproductive rights, burning bras, continuation work/wage gap, domestic violence, revaluation of values. 3rd wave: intersectionality, sexuality, trans rights, gender deconstruction, domestic violence, sex positivity, rape culture.
